Enviva® PRO is a three-strain Bacillus amyloliquefaciens, which have been selected for optimal production in South African poultry flocks. These strains produce a diverse set of secretory compounds that demonstrate a strong growth inhibition towards avian pathogenic Escherichia coli (APEC) and toxigenic clostridia specifically isolated from poultry produced under South African conditions. The main goal for administering a multi-strain probiotic solution is to provide better coverage against the proliferation of non-beneficial bacteria while simultaneously promoting the development of a favourable microbiome, which can be achieved via numerous modes of action.
Inhibition of pathogens, such as APEC, Campylobacter spp., Brachyspira spp., Listeria spp., and Salmonella spp., has been illustrated by means of competitive exclusion while promoting the colonisation of a stable favourable population. Reducing the amount of non-beneficial bacteria also assists in the modulation of the immune system, lowering energy expenditure on costly processes such as inflammation.
The key benefit Enviva® PRO remains that a multi-strain probiotic solution gives better coverage across different challenges, promoting the colonisation and establishment of favourable microbiota, and illustrates the advantages of including a product that promotes various modes of action.
