I am married to Val, a pharmacist who specialised in work with the Medfem Fertility Clinic, and who not only was a provincial hockey player, but who also ran many marathons with me. Together we parent our two sporty and talented sons, one specialising in environmental management science, the other in financial investing and planning.
I held senior positions in human resources and in corporate finance for almost 20 years, and later worked as a director in various consultant companies, including The Pacific Institute, Argil Business Growth, and Market Immersion. For five years, I had the privilege of training abroad for a market research company, teaching behavioural psychology in practice and in turning consultancy experts into trusted advisors. I also ran a number of Harley-Davidson dealerships in South Africa. I started running at the age of 35, completing 25 marathons and ultra-marathons over the next 10 years.
