Anatha Erasmus

Intern: Poultry

My passion for people and animals have inspired me to make a change in the world whether it is big or small. My goal is to use my knowledge as an animal scientist to improve animal welfare and food security in a sustainable manner. I aspire to inform people about the importance of sustainable agriculture and the positive effects it has on our ever-changing climate.

I went to Eldoraigne High School and matriculated in 2016 in the top 20 of my class. Thereafter, I completed a degree in animal science at the University of Pretoria. I always knew I wanted to work with animals, but during my studies I realised that I didn’t want to, but needed to work with animals.

I am currently enrolled for a master’s degree at the University of Pretoria with the aim of reducing the incidence of ascites through nutritional strategies from breeder to broiler. I am also an intern at Chemuniqué, where I am responsible for the data capturing of our Neuro Livestock Research farm.

I have always been, and will always be a hardworking person. I am goal-orientated and I will never say no to a challenge. I firmly believe that when you love what you do, you will never work a day in your life and I stand by that.
