Alex Jenkins

Technical adviser: Ruminants

I love teaching and interacting with farmers, business owners, and the technical community, and I am passionate about developing people into the best version of themselves.

Formerly from Zimbabwe, I made South Africa my home in 1997. Six years of extensive global travel after university gave me quite a unique perspective on many social and managerial issues that we face in South Africa. Today, I live in Howick in the KwaZulu-Natal Midlands with my wife, Tamlyn, and our son, Finn. I work with all ruminant species, specialising in pasture dairy systems. I have a long history in the premixing industry and enjoy the challenges presented by correct mineral supplementation to animals on a low-cost production system.

I believe that the optimum answer to any problem often lies on the edge of our vision and if no one is looking for it, it might go unnoticed for years. I try to constantly push the boundaries of accepted practice by trying to see situations from a different angle.
