For more than 53 years, our partners at Zinpro have been improving the health and well-being of both animals and people as a pioneer in the research and development of performance trace minerals and innovative nutritional solutions.
This year, they again showed why they are the global leader in advancing animal performance through greater nutrition, being awarded the silver medal at the prestigious EuroTier Innovation Awards for their dairy product, Zinpro IsoFerm. The EuroTier Innovation Awards recognise the most innovative products in the animal livestock and management industry and the silver medal is awarded to products that demonstrate significant improvements in functionality, efficiency, and sustainability. Zinpro IsoFerm was recognised for its groundbreaking approach to enhancing animal nutrition and performance.
“We are honoured to receive this recognition from EuroTier. Zinpro IsoFerm represents our commitment to advancing animal performance by pioneering technology that is reshaping dairy nutrition. This award is a testament to the hard work and dedication of our team.”
Justin Howes, ruminant senior global marketing manager at Zinpro
Zinpro IsoFerm is a proprietary blend of branched-chain volatile fatty acids (BCVFA or isoacids) that are naturally used by the rumen microbes to make microbial protein and energy. It’s a breakthrough product that improves fermentation by feeding the fibre-digesting bacteria in the rumen, allowing cows to be more efficient and productive. Isoacids have been recognised as required nutrients for decades, but supplementation in deficient diets was impossible until now.
Some specific benefits include:
- Superior transition cow performance: Through enhanced liver function in early lactation, cows experience reduced body weight loss, fewer cases of ketosis, and greater glucose production.
- Increased milk production: By improving fermentation, Zinpro IsoFerm helps cows produce more milk with fewer resources, consistently achieving 10–12% higher peak milk production.
- Improved feed efficiency: It enhances the natural rumen function, fuelling fibre digestion and protein utilisation, often with less dry matter intake, resulting in greater feed efficiency.
- Enhanced farm efficiency: The improvements in feed and production efficiency contribute to greater farm efficiency, leading to higher income over feed costs and an improved bottom line.
- Environmental sustainability: The advancements in efficiency and productivity from Zinpro IsoFerm also drive operational and environmental sustainability.
Customers and dairy producers implementing Zinpro IsoFerm are seeing productivity and financial benefits in their operations.
“It’s just nice to come in the parlour in the morning and see our cows full of milk. I love it because it means I’m breeding my cows to the potential that they have now. And by using Zinpro IsoFerm it’s really released that potential in them.”
Pippa Tudor, Hallon Farm
“We’re just not getting transition diseases and we’re getting healthy cows coming through. It’s increasing our pregnancy rate, which is up about 3½ percentage points.”
