Lockdown week 3: Communication statement

covid-19 lockdown

After having celebrated Easter this past weekend, we began lockdown week 3 with the news that this wasn’t to be our last week, but rather that the lockdown had been extended by an additional two weeks.

President Ramaphosa addressed the nation on 9 April 2020, and there were some words he used to express his thoughts which resonate well with the Chemuniqué “why”.

“As we emerge from this crisis, our country will need to undergo a process of fundamental reconstruction. To do so, we will draw on our strengths: our abundant natural resources, our advanced infrastructure, our deep financial markets, our proven capabilities in information and communication technology, and the depth of talent among our people. We will draw on our proven capacity for innovation and creativity, our ability to come together in a crisis, and our commitment to each other and our common future. We will learn from global experience and the best scientific evidence, but we will craft a uniquely South African response that uses our own capabilities as a nation”.

President Cyril Ramaphosa

In our agricultural roles, we are critical to the success of the country’s economy and survival – by providing nutritional feed to every production animal, we ensure the supply of essential nutrients (i.e. animal protein) to each individual person, which is the foundation of strong immunity and longevity.

Our strengths as an agricultural industry are demonstrated by our proven capabilities, technological advancements, and depth of talent. The next step for us is to come together and commit to collaborative efforts in order to thrive under this “new normal”.  What do we want to create and achieve in coherency?

Chemuniqué and our partners are committed to providing the best scientific evidence for innovative ways to improve production efficiencies and, most of all, continuing to build the relationships with our customers and suppliers that we so deeply value. Let us remain serious about taking care of each other and help build a society that emerges from this crisis more beautiful than before.
