In light of the address by President Ramaphosa on 15 March 2020 and, the range of measures that have been and will have to be taken in respect of COVID-19, Chemuniqué would like to share some thoughts and policy actions required to stop the spread of COVID-19.
Specifically, under the banner of the Disaster Management Act (57 of 2002), the President has proclaimed a national state of disaster. What this means effectively is that the Cabinet will probably be designing and communicating special measures that South African citizens, organisations, and institutions will have to comply with. The Act provides for an integrated and coordinated disaster management policy that focuses on preventing or reducing the risk of disasters.
It is the intention of Chemuniqué to manage each situation based on its merits and for us as an employer and supplier in the South African livestock nutrition industry to carefully consider each situation and requirements thereof. When it comes to any operational decisions or action required from our side, the Chemuniqué staff and customers will remain a priority and all decisions will be in the best interest of people first.
Please be advised that as of today, Chemuniqué is implementing all reasonable measures to reduce the risk of exposure and spread of COVID-19. The following preventative measures will be put in place with immediate effect:
- We will enhance cleaning protocols while encouraging and facilitating the use of preventative measures such as alcohol-based sanitisers, regular hand washing, and closed bins. A number of hand sanitiser dispensers will be provided at the Chemuniqué office in Lanseria.
- All employees are urged to limit physical contact and handshakes and we encourage a verbal greeting only.
- All employees will be required to avoid unnecessary gathering or meetings where they may be exposed to groups of more than 10 people.
- Business-essential meetings will be conducted via Zoom video conferencing, or via one-on-one meetings, with the necessary precautions.
It is our priority to continue serving the industry within the new guidelines, and our customers remain our priority. We are well-equipped to handle several of the upcoming challenges using technology, so it’s time we all get really comfortable with our computers!
Please note that at this stage, there is no need to stockpile any products.
If you have any queries regarding this, please feel free to contact your Chemuniqué consultant.
Kind regards,
Terry Wiggill
