  • January – Terry gives Bantry Construction Services the official go-ahead to start building on the company’s new premises at Lanseria Corporate Estate.
  • October – The Chemuniqué team, now totalling 35 employees, move into 28 Eagle Lane in Lanseria Corporate Estate to start the next chapter.

Dr Peter Plumstead joins the team in 2012, becoming a shareholder in 2014.

Ashley Shapiro passes away

A few days before the start of the 2010 FIFA World Cup, the team mourns the loss of Ashley Shapiro, who passed away in hospice in Houghton after a long battle with liver cancer.

The growing Chemuniqué team moves into new premises at 330 Surrey Ave. in Ferndale, Randburg.

Chemuniqué declared insolvent

  • April – Chemuniqué International (Pty) Ltd is declared insolvent due to a major customer liquidation during which the company lost about R3,5 million.
  • November – Rainbow starts using Avizyme, which facilitates the company trading out of insolvency.

The Chemuniqué team moves into new premises at 272 Oak Ave., Randburg.

  • February – HFC finalises a distribution agreement with Finnfeeds for Avizyme 1500, Porzyme 9300, and Betafin S1.
  • August – Assisted by Steve Murphy, managing director of Hanover Re., Terry and Ashely purchase Hochfeld Fine Chemicals and rent a small back office from Hochfeld Properties at 80 Grant Ave., Norwood.
  • November – Hochfeld Fine Chemicals becomes Chemuniqué International (Pty) Ltd under ownership of Ashley Shapiro and Terry Wiggill.

An initial meeting with Bill Scrimgeour of Zinpro Corporation quickly developed into a strong relationship and HFC received a letter of intent to distribute the Availa-Mins range of trace mineral amino acid complexes.

Hochfeld Fine Chemicals

Terry Wiggill joins Ashley Shapiro in Hochfeld Fine Chemicals (HFC) with a focus on amino acids and other specialty feed additives and starts scouting the globe for possible international partners to supplement their existing distribution arrangements with ADM and Olesen. At the time, Terry was adamant that the minimum requirement for consideration of a distribution partner was that they have sound research programmes and reliable data that supports a good return on investment for customers.
